Brain Juice: Pennywort Juice Drink

You might have read my post on the benefits of pennywort to children's memory. If not then please read it now so you'll understand the benefits.

Since then, I've been experimenting with pennywort as some children might not like the thick smoothie taste. So I've been adding pennywort to different types of fruits to make a juice. The result has a thinner consistency as you would expect from a juice.

If you want to improve your children's memory and brain function then trying adding pennywort to different types of fruits. These are the fruits that I've used and the results of each.

Book Review: Hassan and Aneesa Go to Masjid

Hassan and Aneesa Go to the Masjid
By Yasmeen Rahim
Illustrator: Omar Burgess
Publisher: The Islamic Fondation UK, 2012
Ages: 4-7 years old

Hassan and Aneesa are going to the masjid. At masjid they will make wudu, visit the prayer hall, listen to the adhan and perform prayer. Follow them as they get ready and explore the masjid.

Hassan and Aneesa Go to Masjid takes the reader from the time the two children leave the house to drive to the majid to praying and then leaving. But it also takes the reader to the wudu area, the mihrab and the mimbar and explains what each one is.

It also teaches children about talking quietly in the masjid, not walking in front of others while they're praying and giving money in the sadaqah box. It takes a comprehensive look at each step of going to the masjid in an easy to understand way that little children can enjoy.

Teach Your Child the Manner of Thanking People

Thanking people is a part of good Islamic manners. Allah wants us to thank people as it's a reflection of our thankfulness to Allah.

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “He has not thanked Allah who has not thanked people.” (Sunan Abu Dawud)

When you thank someone, it makes them feel appreciated. This in turn creates goodwill and everyone is happier.

How then do you thank someone?

How to Guide Children's Behaviour Summary Infographic

You may or may not know that I've written an ebook to help parents guide their children. It's called 'How to Guide Children's Behaviour: From an Islamic Perspective'. This book has been given away for free for the past 10 years.

What I've noticed was that parents download the book and they don't follow through. So I'm always thinking of ways to get parents to put into practice these strategies.

Book Review: Allah is Ar-Rahman (A Book About Shapes) and Lesson Included

Author: Saba Ghazi Ameen
Publisher: Iqro International Educational Foundation (2002)
Lift the Flap Board Book
Ages: 3+

"This series introduces young children to preschool concepts of shapes and colours through positive Islamic themes. Abstract concepts of Islamic belief and morals are presented in a simple and personal manner that young children will be able to relate to."

Trust me when I write that all children love lift the flap books. They love it so much that you'd have to store these books away and read it to them supervised. Their eager little fingers just love to lift the flaps to see what's undernealth. This is why there will be tears if you are not careful.

Having written all that, lift the flap books are so much fun for little children. I've had this particular book when my eldest was 3 years old. He and subsequently his brother enjoyed it then and all my prekinders have enjoyed it since. Just this week, I've read this book to my prekindy class and it remains as popular as ever.
