Masjid Al Aqsa is the third most important mosque for Muslims. It's the place where Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, ascended to the heavens (Isra and Miraj). It's the first qiblah for the Muslims (direction of prayer). It has a lot of significance to us and this is what we should be teaching our children so they can develop an attachment to it as well.
To help you do this, download this colouring in sheet and let your children colour in as part of your lessons on Al Aqsa.
For a casual lesson, you can your child can both colour in the sheet at the same time. While you're both colouring in, you can talk about Al Aqsa and explain the importance. The lesson can be as simple as this.
Or you can have a whole unit on Palestine and include Masjid Al Aqsa as one of the topics. You could also just have a unit on the 3 most important masjids for Muslims. Or a general unit on masjids. If you're doing this then be sure to check out my other masjid activities.
