15 Fun Ways to Improve Fine Motor Skills

Developing fine motor skills is so important to children's ability to hold the pencil to write (and for cutting). Here are some of the ways to develop this. Certainly, there are many more ways but use these as starting blocks and ideas.

1
Beading.
The younger the child, the larger the beads.

2
Colouring with crayons

3
Connecting

 4
Counters

5
Cutting with scissors

6
Cutting wooden play food

7
Glueing

8
Mosaics (picking up the pieces)

9
Painting

10
Peeling stickers

11
Pegs and pegboards

12
Playdough

13
Threading

14
Wooden blocks

15
Wooden puzzles (with pegs)

If you need to buy your own, here are a few you could try.
